In 2006, a group of Lincoln business and civic leaders, now known as 2015 Vision, began developing a bold, new community vision.
The term "Antelope Valley Projects" describes the first 6 to ten year set of approved governmental projects that are being built in the historical center of Lincoln. Sponsored by the City of Lincoln, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District, the Antelope Valley Projects address the following purposes:
Citing Nebraska’s favorable business climate and Lincoln’s highly educated workforce as key factors, Verizon Wireless chose to open the doors of its newest customer service center in Lincoln. The $33 million state-of-the-art facility is housed in the University of Nebraska Technology Park. The company will employ nearly 800 people from the Lincoln area.
The University of Nebraska plans to develop Nebraska Innovation Park on a 251-acre site adjacent to its city campus. The Park will provide space for public-private partnerships which will allow private businesses to access faculty research in the development of marketable innovations.
The West Haymarket Redevelopment project will convert 400 acres of blighted and underutilized property on the western edge of Lincoln's Downtown. The proposed redevelopment project involves several components including: a new arena, new hotel, public plazas, retail, office and condominiums.
